As a single working woman, imagine being displaced
from your home, your employer, or your family as a result of
illness, domestic violence, divorce, etc. What would you do? Where
would you go?

Fifteen years ago, Sarahlyn U. Argrow experienced a
similar situation; in fact, there were moments when she did not know
how she and her daughters were going to make it. They went through
times when Sarahlyn did not have money for food, money to pay
utility bills, money for rent, etc. Through sheer determination and
will power, hard work and her faith, Sarahlyn’s plight ended up
being a success story. She ultimately secured a high level position
with a major corporation and during the process, realized that she
wanted to find a way of giving back to others who faced similar
challenges.
In 2000, Sarahlyn founded “A Working Woman In
Need” (AWWIN, Inc.) and the organization has since served over 400
families in the Savannah area through the services that they offer.
Among those services is the organization’s signature computer and
job readiness training class”. Sarahlyn teaches other classes that
help AWWIN’s clients get back into the work force, or enhance their
skills to increase their employability. Volunteers are needed to
help with training on Microsoft Work, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Please contact Sarahlyn at awwin.inc@comcast.net if you have the
desire, time, patience and skills to assist with classes.
In May AWWIN announced plans to expand their
services in Savannah and to bring AWWIN services to additional
cities like Atlanta and Hardeville, South Carolina. AWWIN has truly
made and continues to make a positive difference in the lives of
others. To learn more about AWWIN and how you can get involved,
